SPIRITUAL DIARY

My Worship Time                              Focus:  Tenderness & Safety

Bible Reading & Meditation               Reference:  Deuteronomy 22:6-8

Message of the verses:  “6  "If you happen to come upon a bird’s nest along the way, in any tree or on the ground, with young ones or eggs, and the mother sitting on the young or on the eggs, you shall not take the mother with the young; 7  you shall certainly let the mother go, but the young you may take for yourself, in order that it may be well with you and that you may prolong your days. 8  "When you build a new house, you shall make a parapet for your roof, so that you will not bring bloodguilt on your house if anyone falls from it.”

You can see the goodness of God in these three verses as He cares for the birds that He created and He also cares for the safety of His people by instructing them to build a railing around the top of their flat roof so that no one would fall off and be hurt or killed.  The houses were made with flat roofs and during the hot time of the year the family would sleep on the roof because it was cooler there for them.

Getting back to the care that the Lord has for the birds if a person takes the eggs along with the mother then the mother could not have any more young, but if the mother bird was left she could have another brood of young.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  When God created the earth there was to be no death, but when sin entered death also entered, but this was not the desire of God to have this happen.  Paul writes these words to the Romans, “19  For the anxious longing of the creation waits eagerly for the revealing of the sons of God. 20  For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it, in hope 21  that the creation itself also will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God. 22  For we know that the whole creation groans and suffers the pains of childbirth together until now.”  These verses speak of what sin caused in creation and yet through this all God’s goodness is seen through His care for even the birds, and so I know that if He cares for the birds as Jesus said that God knows when one sparrow dies, that He will care for me, and I am thankful for that.

My Steps of Faith for Today:

  1. Give myself to the Lord for worship and service.
  2. Trust the Lord to take away sinful desires as He took away the sinful desire to swear when He saved me.
  3. Put on the spiritual armor:  the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shoes of the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit.
  4. Trust the Lord to fill me with His Spirit.
  5. Trust the Lord to continue to teach me contentment.
  6. Trust the Lord to guide my path today.

Memory verses for the week:                                  Ephesians 3:14-17

14.  For this reason I bow my knees before the Father,

15.  from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name,

16.  that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man,

17.  so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love,
