Generosity (Deut. 23:24-25)

SPIRITUAL DIARY

My Worship Time                                        Focus:  Generosity

Bible Reading & Meditation               Reference:  Deuteronomy 23:24-25

Message of the verses:  “24  "When you enter your neighbor’s vineyard, then you may eat grapes until you are fully satisfied, but you shall not put any in your basket. 25  "When you enter your neighbor’s standing grain, then you may pluck the heads with your hand, but you shall not wield a sickle in your neighbor’s standing grain.”

This law that is described here is one that needs to be followed from the heart so that the Lord could bless the people who obeyed it.  The earth is the Lords and everything that is in it and so the Lord wanted His children to be generous when it came to their crops so that when people were traveling through they could get enough food to eat, but not take any food with them as Dr. Wiersbe says:  “The law gave people the privilege to meeting their need but not satisfying their greed.”

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  I know that there are times when I find it hard to be generous with others the way that I feel that the Lord would want me to do so and this bothers me.  There are times when I just want to hold on to things and my attitude is not what it should be, and so I would ask the Lord to continue to change this attitude and to teach me contentment for all that I need I have in the Lord.

My Steps of Faith for Today:

  1. Give myself to the Lord for worship and service.
  2. Put on the spiritual armor:  The belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shoes of the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.
  3. Be filled with the Holy Spirit.
  4. Continue to learn contentment.
  5. Trust the Lord to guide my path.
  6. Trust the Lord to take a sinful desire away from me, as He did when I was first saved.

Memory verses for the week:                                  Ephesians 3:14-17

14.  For this reason I bow my knees before the Father,

15.  from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name,

16.  that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man,

17.  so that Christ ma dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love,
