A Divine Solution (Num. 20:6-9)

SPIRITUAL DIARY

My Worship Time                                        Focus:  A divine solution

Bible Reading & Meditation                        Reference:  Numbers 20:6-9

Message of the verses:  “6  Then Moses and Aaron came in from the presence of the assembly to the doorway of the tent of meeting and fell on their faces. Then the glory of the LORD appeared to them; 7  and the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 8  "Take the rod; and you and your brother Aaron assemble the congregation and speak to the rock before their eyes, that it may yield its water. You shall thus bring forth water for them out of the rock and let the congregation and their beasts drink."  9  So Moses took the rod from before the LORD, just as He had commanded him;”

Chapter twenty is a crucial chapter in the book of Numbers as it tells of the death or Miriam and no the incident of the rock in which Moses will commit a careless sin that will keep him from going to the Promise Land, (More on that in the next SD).

Moses and Aaron go to speak to the Lord because of the sin of the children of Israel where as it should have been the children of Israel going to confess their sin before the Lord.  God then tells Moses what he should do, and that is he and Aaron were to gather the children of Israel and to take the rod along with them, however Moses was told to speak to the rock in order to get water from it.  The word in the Hebrew that is translated as rock means a cliff and not just a bolder.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  It is important to confess my sins to the Lord right away and not let them linger.  I am to trust the leaders that the Lord has given to me.  I am to obey the Lord when given instructions.

My Steps of Faith for Today:

1.    I want to continue to learn more about my Lord through Bible study and other means.

2.    I want to continue to learn contentment.

3.    I want to trust the Lord to guide my path.

Memory verses for the week:                                              Romans 6:19-23

19.     I a speaking in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh.  For just as you presented you members as slaves to impurity and to lawlessness, resulting in further lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves to righteousness, resulting in sanctification.

20.     For when you were slaves to sin, you were free in regard to righteousness.

21.     Therefore what benefit were you then deriving from the things of which you are now ashamed?  For the outcome of those things is death.

22.     But now having been freed from sin and enslaved to God, you derive your benefit, resulting in sanctification, and the outcome, eternal life.

23.     For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
