SPIRITUAL DIARY
My Worship Time Focus: Remember the Lord
Bible Reading & Meditation Reference: Numbers 15:37-41
Message of the verses: “37 ¶
The LORD also spoke to Moses, saying, 38
"Speak to the sons of Israel, and tell them that they shall make
for themselves tassels on the corners of their garments throughout their
generations, and that they shall put on the tassel of each corner a cord of
blue. 39
"It shall be a tassel for you to look at and remember all the
commandments of the LORD, so as to do them and not follow after your own heart
and your own eyes, after which you played the harlot, 40 so that you may remember to do all My
commandments and be holy to your God.
41 "I am the LORD your God
who brought you out from the land
of Egypt to be your God;
I am the LORD your God.’”
This
is the forth and last section in Dr. Wiersbe’s book, “Be Counted,” and at the
beginning of it he wrote that there were four reasons to obey the Word of
God. This sub-section speaks of how the
children of Israel
would be helped in remembering the Word of God and the God of the Word by
putting a tassel on their outer garments with a blue thread in the tassel which
reminds them to obey the Word of God. It
is easy for believers to forget the commandments of the Lord today and also
back when the Lord gave this command to the children of Israel . In the thirty-first chapter of the book of
Jeremiah God says that there will be a day coming when He would write His Laws
on the hearts of His children and this is also repeated in the book of Hebrews,
so that is how I am suppose to remember the commands of the Lord today. Maybe a tassel would help me too.
Spiritual meaning for my life today: This is one of the most important things for
me to do each and every day and it is also one of the hardest things for me to
do too, and that is remembering the Lord and His commandments in all of the
things that I do each and everyday.
My Steps of Faith for Today:
- I want to know the Lord better in this year.
- I want to continue to learn contentment.
- I want to trust the Lord to work in my wife’s heart.
Memory verses for the week: Romans
6:16-19
16.
Do you not know that when you present yourselves
to someone as slaves for obedience, you are slaves of the one whom you obey,
either sin resulting in death, or of obedience resulting in righteousness?
17.
But thanks be to God that though you were slaves
of sin, you became obedient from the heart to that form of teaching to which
you were committed,
18.
and
having been freed sin, you became slaves of righteousness.
19.
I am speaking in human terms because of the
weakness of your flesh. For just as you
presented your members as slaves to impurity and to lawlessness, resulting in
further lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves to righteousness,
resulting in sanctification.
