SPIRITUAL DIARY

My Worship Time                              Focus:  Moses a humble leader

Bible Reading & Meditation               Reference:  Numbers 16:4-11

Message of the verses:  “4  When Moses heard this, he fell on his face; 5  and he spoke to Korah and all his company, saying, "Tomorrow morning the LORD will show who is His, and who is holy, and will bring him near to Himself; even the one whom He will choose, He will bring near to Himself.  6  "Do this: take censers for yourselves, Korah and all your company, 7  and put fire in them, and lay incense upon them in the presence of the LORD tomorrow; and the man whom the LORD chooses shall be the one who is holy. You have gone far enough, you sons of Levi!"

8  Then Moses said to Korah, "Hear now, you sons of Levi, 9  is it not enough for you that the God of Israel has separated you from the rest of the congregation of Israel, to bring you near to Himself, to do the service of the tabernacle of the LORD, and to stand before the congregation to minister to them; 10  and that He has brought you near, Korah, and all your brothers, sons of Levi, with you? And are you seeking for the priesthood also? 11  "Therefore you and all your company are gathered together against the LORD; but as for Aaron, who is he that you grumble against him?’”

Moses spent a lot of time on his knees before the Lord to pray for the children of Israel as this first generation of the children of Israel who came out of Egypt were acting very sinfully against the Lord.  Korah and his company were to bring their own firepans before the Lord along with Aaron to see if the Lord would accept their fire before Him and the one whom He chooses will certainly be the priests.  Korah and his descendants already had a job to do before the Lord as written about in yesterday’s SD, but the problem was that they wanted a job that belonged to someone else, a job with more prestige as they were not satisfied just to carry the furniture of the tabernacle.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  Proverbs 16:18 says in the Message, “First pride, then the crash—the bigger the ego, the harder the fall.”  I am sure that I have my fair share trouble with pride, yet that is not my desire, for contentment is kind of the opposite of pride, for if a person is content then they will not have to deal with their pride so much.

My Steps of Faith for Today:

  1. Learn to know the Lord better.
  2. Learn to be content.
  3. Learn to deal with the Bi Polar Mood Disorder that Sandy has.

Memory verses for the week:                                  Romans 6:16-19

16.      Do you not know that when you present yourselves to someone as slaves for obedience, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either sin resulting in death, or of obedience resulting in righteousness?

17.      But thanks be to God that though you were slaves of sin, you became obedient from the heart to that for of teaching to which you were committed,

18.      and having been freed from sin, you became slaves of righteousness.

19.      I am speaking in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh.  For just as you presented your members as slaves to impurity and lawlessness, resulting in more lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves to righteousness, resulting in sanctification.
