An Implsive Sin (Num. 20:10-11)

SPIRITUAL DIARY

My Worship Time                                                 Focus:  An impulsive sin

Bible Reading & Meditation                        Reference:  Numbers 20:10-11

Message of the verses:  “10  and Moses and Aaron gathered the assembly before the rock. And he said to them, "Listen now, you rebels; shall we bring forth water for you out of this rock?"  11  Then Moses lifted up his hand and struck the rock twice with his rod; and water came forth abundantly, and the congregation and their beasts drank.”

This is one of those stories from the Scripture that I have not been able to understand fully yet, and I guess that the reason is that it was always hard for me to understand what it was that Moses did wrong.  I know that he became angry with the people, but even God became angry with these people and threatened to get rid of all of them, but He is God.  Moses disobeyed God by hitting the rock and not speaking to it.  Moses also seemed to take credit in making the water come out of the rock, and not give glory to the Lord.

“But no matter what mitigating causes we might produce, the fact still remains that Moses didn’t honor the Lord or obey His orders.”

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  I must not disobey the Lord even thought I don’t think that it is important not to do what the Lord has told me to do.  God never makes a mistake.

One last point from this section and that is that because of his sin Moses would not be allowed to enter into the Promised Land but I truly believe that it will be Moses who is one of the two wittinesses who will return to earth to finish his ministry during the first part of the tribulation period.  The miracles that are done by these two men are similar to the miracles that Moses and Elijah did while they were on the earth.

My Steps of Faith for Today:

  1. Continue to get to know the Lord better and better.
  2. To continue to learn contentment.
  3. To trust the Lord go guide my path each day.
