A Painful Discipline (Num. 20:12-13)

SPIRITUAL DIARY

My Worship Time                                        Focus:  A painful discipline

Bible Reading & Meditation                        Reference:  Numbers 20:12-13

Message of the verses:  “12  But the LORD said to Moses and Aaron, "Because you have not believed Me, to treat Me as holy in the sight of the sons of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this assembly into the land which I have given them." 13  Those were the waters of Meribah, because the sons of Israel contended with the LORD, and He proved Himself holy among them.”

Verse twelve gives the details of the discipline that God would give to Moses as he would not be bringing the children of Israel into the Promised Land, but it would be Joshua, the type of Christ who would have that honor.  God tells Moses that he did not treat Him holy and because Moses did not believe God, these were the reasons for the discipline.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  One of the things that will be remembered of Moses was this discipline that was given to him by the Lord for disobedience and that is truly a shame because Moses did such a great job in leading the children of Israel in such difficult situations.  It is important for me to finish strong.

My Steps of Faith for Today:

  1. Continue to learn more about my Lord.
  2. Continue to learn contentment.
