The Swift Judgment (Num. 12:4-10)

SPIRITUAL DIARY

My Worship Time                                        Focus:  The swift judgment

Bible Reading & Meditation                        Reference:  Numbers 12:4-10

Message of the verses:  “4 ¶  Suddenly the LORD said to Moses and Aaron and to Miriam, "You three come out to the tent of meeting." So the three of them came out.  5  Then the LORD came down in a pillar of cloud and stood at the doorway of the tent, and He called Aaron and Miriam. When they had both come forward, 6  He said, "Hear now My words: If there is a prophet among you, I, the LORD, shall make Myself known to him in a vision. I shall speak with him in a dream.  7  "Not so, with My servant Moses, He is faithful in all My household; 8  With him I speak mouth to mouth, Even openly, and not in dark sayings, And he beholds the form of the LORD. Why then were you not afraid To speak against My servant, against Moses?" 9  So the anger of the LORD burned against them and He departed.

“10 ¶  But when the cloud had withdrawn from over the tent, behold, Miriam was leprous, as white as snow. As Aaron turned toward Miriam, behold, she was leprous.”

God saw right through the evil motives that Miriam and Aaron had within them and called all three of them to the tent of meetings, but He only spoke to Miriam and Aaron.  God told them that He spoke to prophets through visions and dreams; however God spoke to Moses mouth to mouth because Moses was God’s chosen leader for Israel.  Moses was indeed special in God’s sight as God had chosen Him for a very special job and now Miriam and Aaron were trying to say that they were like Moses and for this Miriam would be judged for this sin by becoming leprous.  I am sure that both Miriam and Aaron were very frightened over all of this and I also think that they would learn their lesson.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  The last commandment states that no one should covet their neighbor’s hours, wife, or anything that belonged to their neighbor, and this is what Aaron and Miriam were doing.

One of the things that the Lord has been working in my life is that I am the distinctive person that He wants me to be and if I do all that He has for me to do then I will fulfill my work for the Lord and therefore there is no need in wanting to be someone else for I would miss what it is that the Lord has planed for me to do to glorify Him.  Ephesians 2:10 states this very plainly to me:  “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so that we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”  (NLT)

My Steps of Faith for Today:

  1. Not to covet anything anyone else has, but be content with who I am and what I have.  12/27/2008 7:41 PM
