Eleazar the Faith Priest (Num. 16:36-40)

SPIRITUAL DIARY

My Worship Time                              Focus:  Eleazar the faith priest

Bible Reading & Meditation               Reference:  Numbers 16:36-40

Message of the verses:  “36 Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 37 “Say to Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, that he shall take up the censers out of the midst of the blaze, for they are holy; and you scatter the burning coals abroad.  38  "As for the censers of these men who have sinned at the cost of their lives, let them be made into hammered sheets for a plating of the altar, since they did present them before the LORD and they are holy; and they shall be for a sign to the sons of Israel."  39 So Eleazar the priest took the bronze censers which the men who were burned had offered, and they hammered them out as a plating for the altar, 40 as a reminder to the sons of Israel that no layman who is not of the descendants of Aaron should come near to burn incense before the LORD; so that he will not become like Korah and his company—just as the LORD had spoken to him through Moses.”

It is not clear if the plating of the altar that was their was taken off and replaced by these censers or not, but they were put their to remind the children of Israel of the sin of Korah and those who followed him to their death because of their sin.

“11 Woe to them! For they have gone the way of Cain, and for pay they have rushed headlong into the error of Balaam, and perished in the rebellion of Korah.”  Jude wrote this to his readers and these three men were good representatives of the world, Korah, the flesh, Balaam, and the devil Cain.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  I truly need to be reminded from time to time that I need to fear the Lord because of who He is.

My Steps of Faith for Today:

  1. Continue to learn more about the Lord so that I truly know Him better.
  2. Be content.
  3. Trust the Lord to guide my path.
  4. Trust that the Lord will look after Matthew and heal him from this breathing problem.
