SPIRITUAL DIARY

My Worship Time                                        Focus:  Daily Sacrifices

Bible Reading & Meditation                        Reference:  Numbers 28:1-10

Message of the verses:  “1 ¶ Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 2 “Command the sons of Israel and say to them, ‘You shall be careful to present My offering, My food for My offerings by fire, of a soothing aroma to Me, at their appointed time.’  3 “You shall say to them, ‘This is the offering by fire which you shall offer to the LORD: two male lambs one year old without defect as a continual burnt offering every day.  4  ‘You shall offer the one lamb in the morning and the other lamb you shall offer at twilight; 5  also a tenth of an ephah of fine flour for a grain offering, mixed with a fourth of a hin of beaten oil.  6  ‘It is a continual burnt offering which was ordained in Mount Sinai as a soothing aroma, an offering by fire to the LORD.  7  ‘Then the drink offering with it shall be a fourth of a hin for each lamb, in the holy place you shall pour out a drink offering of strong drink to the LORD.  8  ‘The other lamb you shall offer at twilight; as the grain offering of the morning and as its drink offering, you shall offer it, an offering by fire, a soothing aroma to the LORD.

9 ¶  ‘Then on the sabbath day two male lambs one year old without defect, and two-tenths of an ephah of fine flour mixed with oil as a grain offering, and its drink offering:  10  ‘This is the burnt offering of every sabbath in addition to the continual burnt offering and its drink offering.”

This section is a review of what was already talked about in the book of Leviticus with the exception of some new sacrifices that were to be given.  The two lambs offered in the morning and in the evening on the Sabbath day were added in this section.  The burnt offering is an offering of dedication to the Lord and I do believe that it is totally burned up when offered to the Lord.  This was one of the ways that Israel worshiped the Lord and in order to do this in a proper way they had to have their hearts in the right place.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  Romans 12:1-2 have similarity with the burnt offering with the exception that when a believer offers himself to the Lord he is doing it as a living sacrifice, but by doing this he is dedicating himself to the Lord.

I need to remember this and to do it each day and it would be a good thing to do it in the evening too along with putting on my Spiritual Armor on in the morning.

My Steps of Faith for Today:

  1. Give myself to the Lord.
  2. Put on the Spiritual Armor.
  3. Trust the Lord to Guide my path.
  4. To lean more about my Lord.
  5. To learn contentment.
