SPIRITUAL DIARY

My Worship Time                                                 Focus:  Glorifying the Lord

Bible Reading & Meditation                        Reference:  Numbers 10:33-36

Message of the verses:  “33  Thus they set out from the mount of the LORD three days’ journey, with the ark of the covenant of the LORD journeying in front of them for the three days, to seek out a resting place for them.  34  The cloud of the LORD was over them by day when they set out from the camp.  35  Then it came about when the ark set out that Moses said, "Rise up, O LORD! And let Your enemies be scattered, And let those who hate You flee before You."  36  When it came to rest, he said, "Return, O LORD, To the myriad thousands of Israel.’”

After being at Mt. Sinai for almost one year the children of Israel were on the march again as the cloud rose up from the tabernacle to guide them on their journey.  The Ark of the Covenant was the first to go out and then it was probably Moses and Aaron who followed after the Ark, but before they left Moses would pray that the enemies of the Lord would scatter as they began their march and then when they stopped Moses would pray that the Lord would return Israel.  Many people think that the cloud would cover all of Israel whenever they were marching in order to keep them cool as they marched in the hot son, and that the fire would keep them warm at night after the sun went down.

This would begin again the complaining of the children of Israel as they began to march towards the Promised Land, and it would get so bad that it caused their faith in the Lord to wane and thus all of the first generation of Israel would die in the wilderness with the exception of Joshua and Caleb.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  The beginning prayer that Moses prayed to the Lord when Israel began to march reminds me somewhat of putting on my spiritual armor in order to be protected, in actuality it is putting on the Lord Jesus Christ for protection, and as for the last part of Moses’ prayer I think of the Holly Spirit living within me all of the time so He never needs to return for He is always with me.

My Steps of Faith for Today:

  1. Put on the spiritual armor.
  2. Trust the Lord to guide my path today.
  3. Continue to learn contentment.

Memory verses for the week:  I will continue to work on memorizing Romans 6 and will add verses fourteen and fifteen today in my quest to memorize the entire chapter.
