SPIRITUAL DIARY

My Worship Time           Focus:  God Delivered His People

Bible Reading & Meditation               Reference:  Ex 12:37-42, 51

Message of the verses:  “39  They baked the dough which they had brought out of Egypt into cakes of unleavened bread. For it had not become leavened, since they were driven out of Egypt and could not delay, nor had they prepared any provisions for themselves.  40  Now the time that the sons of Israel lived in Egypt was four hundred and thirty years.  41  And at the end of four hundred and thirty years, to the very day, all the hosts of the LORD went out from the land of Egypt.  42  It is a night to be observed for the LORD for having brought them out from the land of Egypt; this night is for the LORD, to be observed by all the sons of Israel throughout their generations.”

“51  And on that same day the LORD brought the sons of Israel out of the land of Egypt by their hosts.”

These verses speak of Israel leaving the land of Egypt, they speak of Israel not having enough time to bake their bread so they had to take the unleavened bread with them for they left in such a hurry, and so they baked it on the way.  Israel was in the land of Egypt for four-hundred-thirty years to the exact day and that is what most of this SD will be on.

There are a couple of places in the Scripture where it rounds off in hundred years the time Israel was in the land of Egypt.  Genesis 15:13 speaks of this along with Acts 7:6 also speak of this.  In 1 Kings 6:1 there is a statement that says that Israel had been out of the land of Egypt for four-hundred-eighty years in the forth year of Solomon’s reign, which was 966 B.C.  This would put the date of the Exodus at 1446B.C. and Dr. Wiersbe writes that this is a date that most conservative Bible Scholars agree on.

Now why is all of this important?  I believe that there are a number of reason of which I will give two:  1.  God’s Word is true as can be seen by these accurate statements.  2.  The second reason is that there are other places in the Scripture which speak of the Exodus from Egypt and relate that with the Exodus from the Babylonian Captivity, along with a future Exodus of Israel from all the nations of the world as the are ushered into the land of Israel to live with King Jesus for 1000 years.  The point to all of this as stated above is that since the Exodus from Egypt took place and also the Exodus from Babylon took place, and I can even point to May of 1948 when Israel became a nation again, which is the first time they have had sovereign control of at least part of the promised land since 586 B.C.  God will bring about the last Exodus of Israel just as He has these others.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  It is interesting to me that the Passover is the first day of the “Religious Calendar for Israel, and it was on the day that the Lord Jesus Christ gave up His life for the sins of the world.  As I look at this celebration of the Passover I can see God passing over my sins because of the blood of the Lamb and then comes the celebration of Unleavened Bread where I am to confess my sins to the Lord so that I can live for Him and do His will because I have great fellowship with Him because of the confessing of my sins.

God brought about all of these things in the nation of Israel just exactly as He said that He would and these are pictures or types of the Lord Jesus Christ, and knowing this means a lot to me.

My Steps of Faith for Today:  I want to yoke up my Lord Jesus Christ today because I am weary and heavy laden, and He will give me rest for my soul, for His yoke is easy and His burden is light.  I also want to continually be taught contentment so that my trust for the Lord will grow greater.
