God's Glory (Ex. 16:6-7, 9-10)

SPIRITUAL DIARY

My Worship Time                    Focus:  God’s glory

Bible Reading & Meditation               Reference:  Exodus 16:6-7, 9-10

            Message of the verses:  “6  So Moses and Aaron said to all the sons of Israel, "At evening you will know that the LORD has brought you out of the land of Egypt;

7  and in the morning you will see the glory of the LORD, for He hears your grumblings against the LORD; and what are we, that you grumble against us?"

            “9  Then Moses said to Aaron, "Say to all the congregation of the sons of Israel, ‘Come near before the LORD, for He has heard your grumblings.’"  10  It came about as Aaron spoke to the whole congregation of the sons of Israel, that they looked toward the wilderness, and behold, the glory of the LORD appeared in the cloud.”

            In this section of verses and in the section in Dr. Wiersbe’s book the focus is on the glory of the Lord, and it was more important that Israel focus on the glory of the Lord rather than on their own appetites.

            Dr. Wiersbe goes on to say, “When circumstances are difficult were prone to pray, ‘Lord, how can I get out of this?’ when we ought to be praying, ‘Lord, what can I get out of this?’  It isn’t important that we get our way, but it is important that God accomplishes His purposes and receives all the glory. But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.  ‘But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you’ (Matthew 6:33).  God permits trials so that He can build godly character into His children and make us more like Jesus.  Godliness isn’t the automatic result of reading books and attending meetings; it also involves bearing burdens, fighting battles, and feeling pain.”

            Spiritual meaning for my life today:  God brings things into my life to test me and to build character into my life, and to conform me into the image of Jesus Christ, and therefore I am not to complain when trials and tests come my way, but I am to ask the Lord what it is that He wants me to learn from these trials and tests and how can I glorify the Lord through these trials and tests.

My Steps of Faith for Today:  Yoke up with the Lord Jesus Christ today as seen in Matthew 11:28-30.  Remember to seek first God’s kingdom and His righteousness and then all the things Jesus spoke of in Matthew six will be added unto me.  Continue to be taught contentment, and continue to rely on 1 Cor. 10:13 when temptations come my way.

Memory verses for the week:                      Matthew 11:28-30

28.    Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give your rest.

29.    Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

30.    For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light.
