The Passover Regulations (Ex. 12:43-50)

SPIRITUAL DIARY

My Worship Time           Focus:  Passover Regulations

Bible Reading & Meditation               Reference:  Exodus 12:43-50

Message of the verses:  “43 ¶  The LORD said to Moses and Aaron, "This is the ordinance of the Passover: no foreigner is to eat of it; 44  but every man’s slave purchased with money, after you have circumcised him, then he may eat of it.  45  "A sojourner or a hired servant shall not eat of it.  46  "It is to be eaten in a single house; you are not to bring forth any of the flesh outside of the house, nor are you to break any bone of it.  47  "All the congregation of Israel are to celebrate this.  48  "But if a stranger sojourns with you, and celebrates the Passover to the LORD, let all his males be circumcised, and then let him come near to celebrate it; and he shall be like a native of the land. But no uncircumcised person may eat of it.  49  "The same law shall apply to the native as to the stranger who sojourns among you."  50  Then all the sons of Israel did so; they did just as the LORD had commanded Moses and Aaron.”

God tells Moses more of the regulations of the Passover which include who outside of the nation of Israel can and cannot participate in this celebration.  All people outside of the nation of Israel who want to participate in Passover must have all the males circumcised or they cannot participate.

God goes on telling Moses that the lamb must not be taken outside of the house after it is roasted, and there shall not be a bone broken.

Now after these regulations were given to Moses by the Lord, Moses then passed them on to the children of Israel who agreed to all of them as seen in verse fifty.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  Circumcision was a sign of belonging to the Old Covenant, and all Israelite males who were born were circumcised on the eight day.  I think that when they were born they were part of the Old Covenant; however the circumcision was the covenant sign showing that they were a part of it.  Being part of the New Covenant happens when a person is born-again as Jesus spoke of in John chapter three.  An outward sign of belonging to the New Covenant is baptism.  Physical baptism does not save you; however spiritual baptism does save you, that is when the Spirit of God places you into the body of Christ, the Church, you are part of the New Covenant.  I, as a New Covenant believer then have the privilege of taking part in the Lord’s Supper, which is what Jesus established with His disciples at the “Last Supper.”  Jesus is the Passover Lamb, as He fulfilled Passover when dying on the cross; therefore there is no more Passover celebration for the New Testament believers.  Passover was a symbol or type of what Jesus fulfilled, therefore there is no need of doing it any longer.

My Steps of Faith for Today:  There has been a victory that came this past Saturday in that the job in Hawaii has been secured by HRSG, and the plan is that Sandy and I will be heading for Hawaii sometime next month.  I have prayed that after the victory of having our funds repaid to us from Andrew Lech that I would not have a spiritual let down, (like the one Elijah had), but I did not pray about not having one after this job came in and I am having one, however I am thankful that the Lord has revealed this to me and so I must pray about this so that I can enjoy this victory that the Lord has given to us and not spoil it by having a sinful let down.

I truly need to yoke up with the Lord Jesus Christ this day as my step of faith.
