SPIRITUAL DIARY

My Worship Time           Focus:  They ate as families and as a congregation

Bible Reading & Meditation               Reference:  Exodus 12:25-28; 13:8-10

Message of the verses:  “25  "When you enter the land which the LORD will give you, as He has promised, you shall observe this rite.  26  "And when your children say to you, ‘What does this rite mean to you?’  27  you shall say, ‘It is a Passover sacrifice to the LORD who passed over the houses of the sons of Israel in Egypt when He smote the Egyptians, but spared our homes.’" And the people bowed low and worshiped.  28  Then the sons of Israel went and did so; just as the LORD had commanded Moses and Aaron, so they did.

8  "You shall tell your son on that day, saying, ‘It is because of what the LORD did for me when I came out of Egypt.’  9  "And it shall serve as a sign to you on your hand, and as a reminder on your forehead, that the law of the LORD may be in your mouth; for with a powerful hand the LORD brought you out of Egypt.

10  "Therefore, you shall keep this ordinance at its appointed time from year to year.”

As I look at the OT, which is made up of mostly the Jewish nation I can see some similarities in them that are in the church today.  However one thing must be made clear, and that is that Israel is not the Church, although there are Jewish believers today who belong to the Church, Israel still is distant from the Church. Pa  ul writes in Romans 9-11 that Israel still has a future and Daniel in his writings tells that there are seven years which Israel still has left to be center stage.  There is also a 1000 year reign of Christ upon the earth that will have Israel as it’s focus for it has been promised to them for centuries.

The Passover celebration was only for the nation of Israel, although there could be some aliens invited provided that they were circumcised, which makes them part of spiritual Israel.  In the same way the Lord’s Supper is only for the family of the true Church, all others who partake in it will bring trouble on themselves for doing so.

God is the one who ordained the family and He wants all members of the family to enjoy the things that He has prepared for them.  It is the parents responsibility to teach their children to live for the Lord and that is why the Lord has commanded that the parents teach their young children about the Passover in the days of Israel, and today they should teach them about the Lord’s Supper and what it means.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  The first thing that I want to write is that I am thankful that both of our children are believers and have been since they were very young and they are not teaching their children the things of the Lord.  God has been very gracious to give us to children who are believers and for this I am very thankful.

God has also made me the Spiritual leader in our home and with that comes the responsibility of leading Sandy in spiritual things of which I am trying to be faithful in doing this.

My Steps of Faith for Today:  Trust in the Lord with all of my heart and lean not upon my own understanding, in all of my ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct my path.  Yoke up with the Lord through these trials He is sending us through.  Continue to trust the Lord through the trial of our investment and also the trial of Sandy’s surgery problems.
