Honoring Life (Ex. 20:13)

SPIRITUAL DIARY

My Worship Time           Focus:  Honoring Life

Bible Reading & Meditation               Reference:  Exodus 20:13

Message of the verse:  “13 “You shall not murder.”

The sixth commandment is very short and to the point and it does not say that you shall not kill, but that you should not murder.  We are all made in the image of God and therefore murder is an attack against God.  (Gen 1:26-27; 9:6)  Genesis 9:6 reads as follows, “Whoever sheds man’s blood, By man his blood shall be shed, For in the image of God He made man.”  This is the punishment that God has given for a murder, it is capital punishment and it has never been rescinded in any other part of the Scripture.

The nation of Israel was to go into battle and kill when they went into these battles and God did not say that this was wrong to do, this commandment is about murder not about killing in war.  This commandment is about murdering unborn babies which many doctors have done in this country because law was legislated by the Supreme Court when it was suppose to interpret law and not make law.  All people are to be involved in this law not just those who are in power.

My Steps of Faith for Today:  I want to be involved in this law from the Lord in anyway that God leads me to be involved.  This is a difficult portion of Scripture for me to take a step of faith in unless it is against the unborn child where form time to time Sandy and I have been able to help out with a financial donation to a group that is organized to fight against this atrocious crime.

My Steps of Faith for Today:

  1. Be yoked with the Lord Jesus Christ.
  2. Remember the truth of 1 Cor. 10:13.
  3. Give myself to the Lord for worship and service today.

Memory verses for the week:                                  Colossians 4:12-13

12.    Epaphras, who is one of your number, a bondslave of Jesus Christ, sends you his greetings, always laboring earnestly for you in his prayers, that you may stand perfect and fully assured in all the will of God.

13.    For I testify for him that he has a deep concern for you and for those who are in Laodicea and Hierapolis.
