God's Wrath (Ex 8:24)

4/2/2008 9:16 AM

SPIRITUAL DIARY

My Worship Time           Focus:  God’s wrath

Bible Reading & Meditation               Reference:  Exodus 8:24

Message of the verses:  “24  Then the LORD did so. And there came great swarms of insects into the house of Pharaoh and the houses of his servants and the land was laid waste because of the swarms of insects in all the land of Egypt.”

Scholars are not agreed on exactly the kind of insects that the Scripture is talking about in verse twenty-four, but these insects caused a great deal of trouble for the Egyptians and it is even possible that they were related to the Egyptian god Uatchit, so God caused another of the gods that the Egyptians worshiped to render helpless.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  I have read that an idol is anything that can come between my worship of God and me, so things like TV, money, cars, &, work could be possible idols. I also believe that God can do the same things to my “idols” as He did to those Egyptian idols, and that could be one of the reasons that our investments have been taken from me, and that is to show me that I cannot rely on money to take care of me, but that only God can do this in a proper way.

My Steps of Faith for Today:  Yoke up with the Lord as spoken of in Matthew 11 because His burden is light, and the ones that I am carrying are not.

Memory verse for the week:                       Philippians 3:8

8.  More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish so that I may gain Christ.
