God Keeps His Promises (Ex. 12:31-36)

SPIRITUAL DIARY

My Worship Time           Focus:  God keeps His promises

Bible Reading & Meditation               Reference:  Exodus 12:31-36

Message of the verses:  “31  Then he called for Moses and Aaron at night and said, "Rise up, get out from among my people, both you and the sons of Israel; and go, worship the LORD, as you have said.  32  "Take both your flocks and your herds, as you have said, and go, and bless me also."  33  The Egyptians urged the people, to send them out of the land in haste, for they said, "We will all be dead."

34  So the people took their dough before it was leavened, with their kneading bowls bound up in the clothes on their shoulders.  35  Now the sons of Israel had done according to the word of Moses, for they had requested from the Egyptians articles of silver and articles of gold, and clothing; 36  and the LORD had given the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they let them have their request. Thus they plundered the Egyptians.”

As stated in an earlier SD God promised Abraham in Genesis 15:13 & 14 that His descendents would go to a strange land and then they would come out of that land with many possessions from the people who lived in that land.  “3  God said to Abram, "Know for certain that your descendants will be strangers in a land that is not theirs, where they will be enslaved and oppressed four hundred years. 14  "But I will also judge the nation whom they will serve, and afterward they will come out with many possessions.”

There is an interesting statement given by Pharaoh in verse 32 which says “and go, and bless me also.”  I am not sure exactly what it is that Pharaoh is saying here.  One of the notes in the OLB suggests that Pharaoh was asking Moses to pray for him.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  God’s promises will always be answered in the way that He promises them just as in the case of these verses that were looked at today.  I find it interesting that on this day I received a phone call from Tim Formaz saying that the job in Hawaii has come about and we should be leaving in a few days.

My Steps of Faith for Today:  Continue to trust the Lord in the trials that He is sending us through, knowing that there will be blessings in the storms of life.
