SPIRITUAL DIARY
My Worship Time Focus: God reveals His power
Bible Reading & Meditation Reference: Exodus 12:29-30
Message of the verses: “29 ¶
Now it came about at midnight that the LORD struck all the firstborn in
the land of Egypt , from the firstborn of Pharaoh who
sat on his throne to the firstborn of the captive who was in the dungeon, and
all the firstborn of cattle. 30 Pharaoh arose in the night, he and all his
servants and all the Egyptians, and there was a great cry in Egypt , for
there was no home where there was not someone dead.”
These
verses start a new section in Dr. Wiersbe’s book on Exodus and he entitles this
section, “Passover and the Lord.” The
reason for this title is because the Bible on several occasions call the
Passover, “The Lord’s Passover.” Now you shall eat it in this manner: with your
loins girded, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and you
shall eat it in haste—it is the LORD’S Passover: Exodus 12:11, “Now you shall eat it in this
manner: with your loins girded, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in
your hand; and you shall eat it in haste—it is the LORD’S Passover.” This is one of those verses.
In
these two verses there is told the story of what happens to a person when death
comes, and sometimes death comes unexpectantly.
The Lord was in charge here, as He is will all situations, and there was
a difference between the place where the Israelites lived with where the
Egyptians were, and that difference was death, and the blood of the Passover lamb, which
protected the Israelites from the death which was in the Egyptian camp. Dr. Wiersbe writes this about the difference
between these two peoples, “The lesson here is obvious: Unless you’re protected by the blood of Christ,
when death comes, you’ll be completely unprepared, and you don’t know when death is coming.”
Spiritual meaning for my life today: I can rejoice because I am protected by the
blood of the Lord Jesus Christ, and this was because of the precious gift that
was given to me by God.
My Steps of Faith for Today:
Yoke up with the Lord Jesus Christ as written in Matthew 11:28-30,
“28 "Come to Me, all who are weary
and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.
29 "Take My yoke upon you
and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST
FOR YOUR SOULS. 30 "For My yoke is easy and My burden is
light.’”
Trust
the Lord to continually see Sandy and I through the trials that He has sent our
way, that it will be good for us and that we will bring honor and glory to the
Lord through the way we handle these problems.
Trust
that the Lord will continue to teach me contentment as I got through these
trials.
