God's Power Part-One (Ex. 14:13-31)

SPIRITUAL DIARY

My Worship Time           Focus:  God’s Power (Part 1)

Bible Reading & Meditation               Reference:  Exodus 14:13-31

Message of the verses:  “13 But Moses said to the people, "Do not fear! Stand by and see the salvation of the LORD which He will accomplish for you today; for the Egyptians whom you have seen today, you will never see them again forever.

14 “The LORD will fight for you while you keep silent."

After the complaining of Israel Moses gave them orders.  The first order was “do not fear.”  Dr. Wiersbe writes, “Sometimes fear energizes us and we quickly try to avoid danger, but sometimes fear paralyzes us and we don’t know what to do.”  Fear can cause a person to do ere rational things, but as a believer we should only fear the Lord.  Fear is a healthy emotion which can save one’s life if used in a proper manner, but if not fear could cause a person to die if not used in a proper manner.

Israel was tempted to run because of their fear so Moses gave them a second command, which was “Stand by and see the salvation of the Lord.”  This command took a great deal of faith for the armies of Egypt were closing down on Israel and perhaps running would have been the best thing to do, but by faith Moses told them to stand still and then they would see the salvation of the Lord.  This salvation of the Lord meant they would be saved from this situation, that is they would never again see the Egyptian army for God was about to act and there is nothing that God can’t do or nothing He fears.

The next command comes in verse fourteen where Moses says, “Keep silent, or be still.”  Psalm 46:10 reads as follows, “Be still, and know that I am God.”  The first part of verse fourteen is a promise from the Lord, “The Lord will fight for you.”  They did not have to do anything but to be still and watch the salvation of the Lord.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  One of the problems, as a believer, that I face is when to be still and let the Lord fight for me, or when does the Lord want me involved in the fight.  The only thing that Israel had to do during those ten plagues was, by faith, kill the lamb and place the blood on the door posts, and the only thing they have to do here is to believe that that Lord will fulfill His promises.  In chapter seventeen Joshua has to begin fighting the enemies by faith, as he is participating in the battle.

There is a spiritual battle going on in my life, the battle of our investment funds and the Lord has people working on this by faith, but thus far I have not been called to this battle other than praying for the people involved in the battle, but now I believe that the Lord wants me to visit with Andrew, thus being physically part of this battle, and I must do this by faith, faith that the Lord will direct my path.

My Steps of Faith for Today:  Be yoked with the Lord, to be open to learn contentment, and by faith believe that the Lord will win the battle over the problem of lust today.

Memory verses for the week:                      Matthew 11:28-30

28.    “Come to me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.

29.    “Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

30.    “For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
