SPIRITUAL DIARY

My Worship Time                                        Focus:  Communication

Bible Reading & Meditation                        Reference:  Deuteronomy 6:6-9

Message of the verses:  “6  "These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart.  7  You shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up.  8  "You shall bind them as a sign on your hand and they shall be as frontals on your forehead.  9  "You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.”

Although it was good for the Jewish people to take this verse literally and have verses of Scripture written out and carried around and also putting them on the doorposts of their home the emphasis of this section seems to mean that the Word of God was to be hidden in their heart as the Psalmist wrote, “Thy Word is written in my heart that I might not sin against you.”

This section also shows the importance of teaching the Word of God to our children early on and then have them to continue to learn it as they grow older in order for them to realize the importance of the Word of God.

As NT believers we have the Holy Spirit living in our hearts and as we read and then memorize and then meditate on the Word of God He can use it to change our lives so that we can walk in a way that is worthy of our calling and also have influence on others who see a live that is glorifying to the Lord.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  One of the hardest things that I try to do is to memorize the Word of God, and I believe this section of Scripture shows the importance of memorizing the Word of God and also to meditate on the Word of God, for by doing so it will have life changing effects on me.

My Steps of Faith for Today:

  1. I want to be more diligent in my memorizing the Word of God.
  2. Continue to learn contentment.
  3. Trust the Lord to guide my path today.

Memory verses for the week:                                              Ephesians 1:1-6

  1. Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, To the saints who are at Ephesus who are faithful in Christ Jesus:
  2. Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
  3. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessings in the heavenly places in Christ,
  4. just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him.  In love
  5. He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will,
  6. to the praise of the glory of His grace, which He freely bestowed on us in the Beloved.
