Israel's Deliverance from Egypt (Deu. 4:20)

SPIRITUAL DIARY

My Worship Time                              Focus:  Israel’s deliverance from Egypt

Bible Reading & Meditation               Reference:  Deuteronomy 4:20

Message of the verses:  “20  "But the LORD has taken you and brought you out of the iron furnace, from Egypt, to be a people for His own possession, as today.”

Moses has just mentioned all of the gods that were worshiped by other nations, for they worshiped the sun, the moon, the stars, and males, and females, along with all kinds of animals, and now Moses goes on to remind the children of Israel that they had been delivered out of Egypt by the Lord and were His possession.  They were to be different than the other nations and they were to be a wittiness to them of the great things that God had done for them and also they were to be reminded each year through the celebrating of the Passover that God had delivered them out of the iron furnace, from Egypt, to be a people for His own possession.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  Just as Israel is to be a separated people unto the Lord so is the Church of which I am part of by the grace, love, and mercy of God through Jesus Christ my Lord.  I am to live like I am separated just as Paul wrote to those in Corinth in that second letter to them where his tells them to come out from among them, “14  Do not be bound together with unbelievers; for what partnership have righteousness and lawlessness, or what fellowship has light with darkness?  15  Or what harmony has Christ with Belial, or what has a believer in common with an unbeliever?  16  Or what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God; just as God said, "I WILL DWELL IN THEM AND WALK AMONG THEM; AND I WILL BE THEIR GOD, AND THEY SHALL BE MY PEOPLE.  17  "Therefore, COME OUT FROM THEIR MIDST AND BE SEPARATE," says the Lord. "AND DO NOT TOUCH WHAT IS UNCLEAN; And I will welcome you.  18  "And I will be a father to you, And you shall be sons and daughters to Me," Says the Lord Almighty.”

My Steps of Faith for Today:

  1. Be separated from the world; be in the world but not of the world.
  2. Learn to be content.
  3.  Trust the Lord to guide my path today.
  4. Give myself to the Lord for service and worship today.

Memory verses for the week:                                              Ephesians 1:1-2

1.        Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, To the saints who are at Ephesus and who are faithful in Christ Jesus:

2.        Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
