SPIRITUAL DIARY

My Worship Time                              Focus:  Obey because of God’s chastening

Bible Reading & Meditation               Reference:  Deuteronomy 11:26-32

Message of the verses:  “26 ¶  "See, I am setting before you today a blessing and a curse: 27  the blessing, if you listen to the commandments of the LORD your God, which I am commanding you today; 28  and the curse, if you do not listen to the commandments of the LORD your God, but turn aside from the way which I am commanding you today, by following other gods which you have not known. 29  "It shall come about, when the LORD your God brings you into the land where you are entering to possess it, that you shall place the blessing on Mount Gerizim and the curse on Mount Ebal. 30  "Are they not across the Jordan, west of the way toward the sunset, in the land of the Canaanites who live in the Arabah, opposite Gilgal, beside the oaks of Moreh? 31  "For you are about to cross the Jordan to go in to possess the land which the LORD your God is giving you, and you shall possess it and live in it, 32  and you shall be careful to do all the statutes and the judgments which I am setting before you today.”

In this section Moses speaks of blessings and curses, the blessings if Israel kept the commandments of God and did not worship idols, and the curses if they did not keep the commandments of God and did worship idols.  Moses then goes on to talk about a ceremony that Israel would take part in and this will be spoken of again in Deuteronomy 27-28 and therefore I will write about it at that time.

Warren Wiersbe writes concerning this section:  “Spiritually speaking, believers today live between two mounts:  Mount Calvary, where Jesus died for us, and the Mount of Olives, to which Jesus will one day return.”  This is a much better place to be than that old place which is spoken of in this section.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  I am thankful for the death of Christ and how He paid for my sins while on that cross, and then He died for the payment of my sins, but that was not the end for Jesus Christ was raised from the dead and lives today to make intercession for me.  I am thankful for this as it ensures eternal life for me from the day that I was saved.

My Steps of Faith for Today:

  1. Continue to pray that my inter man will be strengthened through the Holy Spirit.
  2. Continue to learn contentment.
  3. Give myself to the Lord for worship and service.
  4. Keep a short list with God.
  5. Trust the Lord to guide my path today.
