God Had A Timetable for the Conquest (Deu. 7:22-23)

SPIRITUAL DIARY

My Worship Time                    Focus:  God had a timetable for the conquest

Bible Reading & Meditation               Reference:  Deuteronomy 7:22-23

Message of the verses:  “22  "The LORD your God will clear away these nations before you little by little; you will not be able to put an end to them quickly, for the wild beasts would grow too numerous for you.  23  "But the LORD your God will deliver them before you, and will throw them into great confusion until they are destroyed.”

God has a timetable for all things:  “1 ¶  There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven— 2  A time to give birth and a time to die; A time to plant and a time to uproot what is planted. 3  A time to kill and a time to heal; A time to tear down and a time to build up. 4  A time to weep and a time to laugh; A time to mourn and a time to dance. 5  A time to throw stones and a time to gather stones; A time to embrace and a time to shun embracing. 6  A time to search and a time to give up as lost; A time to keep and a time to throw away. 7  A time to tear apart and a time to sew together; A time to be silent and a time to speak. 8  A time to love and a time to hate; A time for war and a time for peace.”  (Ecc. 3:1-8)  God had a reason for this timetable to conquer the land of Canaan, and one of the reasons that it would take a while was so that the wild animals did not multiply too soon.  The children of Israel would also begin to have more trust in the Lord as the enemies continued to fall through the power of the Lord.

God tells Israel that after the initial seven year attack on these nations that the tribes were to then take care of the rest of their enemies on their own without the help of the other tribes, however they did not do this like they should and because they did not do this they began to fall into temptation and eventually were disciplined by the Lord for falling into these temptations.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  When I was saved all of my sin and sins were forgiven by the Lord.  God took away a filthy mouth from me as soon as I became a believer, but there are still other temptations that I have to deal with on a daily basis, just like the tribes of Israel were to clear out the remaining heathens I am to, by the strength and power of the Lord take care of these temptations.

My Steps of Faith for Today:

  1. Remember that there is not temptation that I have that is not as others have temptation, yet my God is faithful so that I am not tempted beyond my limit, but with each of these temptations He will show me a way to escape them so that I will be able to stand.
  2. Trust the Lord to guide my path today.
  3. Continue to learn contentment.

Memory verses for the week:                                  Ephesians 1:3-8

3. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,

  1. just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him.  In Love
  2. He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will,
  3. to the praise of the glory of His grace, which He freely bestowed on us in the Beloved.
  4. In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace
  5. which He lavished on us.  In all wisdom and insight
