SPIRITUAL DIARY
My Worship Time Focus: Obey because of God’s commandments
Bible Reading &
Meditation Reference: Deuteronomy 10:12-13
Message of the verses: “12 ¶ “Now, Israel, what does the LORD your
God require from you, but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in
all His ways and love Him, and to serve the LORD your God with
all your heart and with all your soul, 13 and to keep the LORD’S
commandments and His statutes which I am commanding you today for your good?”
Warren
Wiersbe points out five elements that are in these two verses that are like
sections of a telescope that belong together and work together. I have underlined them in the text as
follows, fear, walk, love, serve, and keep.
I have also underlined “for your good” as this shows that it is
important for me to obey these five elements that are in this passage.
The
Christian life is looked upon as a walk or compared as a walk: “Therefore I, the prisoner of the Lord,
implore you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you
have been called, So this I say, and affirm together with the Lord, that you walk
no longer just as the Gentiles also walk, in the futility of their mind, and
walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering
and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma, for you were formerly darkness, but
now you are Light in the Lord; walk as children of Light, Therefore be careful
how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise.”
(These are selected verses from the book of Ephesians). Moses speaks of this walk in the verses that
I am looking at in today’s SD.
The first
element is to fear and this speaks of the awe and respect that a believer has
for the Lord. It is possible to have
fear for the Lord and to love Him too as a believer shows loving respect for
the Lord that comes from their heart.
The last two elements are to serve the Lord and to keep His
commandments. John writes about love and
commandments: “1Jo 5:3 For this is the
love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not
burdensome.”
These five
elements are scattered throughout the entire Bible and as I looked up in the
Online Bible some of the different places that they are found I found many for
each element: “* what doth.
#Jer 7:22,23 Mic 6:8 Mt 11:29,30 1Jo 5:3

Spiritual meaning for my life today: What can I say except that I am to obey and
to live out these five elements in my life as a believer. I am to fear the Lord and to walk worthy of
His calling, to love the Lord, to serve Him and to keep His commandments. These elements surely are tied to each other
and make for a good study.
My Steps of Faith for
Today:
- To follow these five elements in my life each day with the help and strength that I get from the Lord and His Spirit.
- To continue to learn contentment.
- To be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man.
- To be strong in the Lord for my family as we all go through this difficult time in our lives.
Memory verses for the week: Ephesians
1:5-9
- He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will,
- to the praise of the glory of His grace, which He freely bestowed on us in the Beloved.
- In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace
- which He lavished on us. In all wisdom and insight
- He made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His kind intention which He purposed in Him
