SPIRITUAL DIARY

My Worship Time                                        Focus:  God’s loving covenant

Bible Reading & Meditation                        Reference:  Deuteronomy 4:25-31

Message of the verses:  “25  "When you become the father of children and children’s children and have remained long in the land, and act corruptly, and make an idol in the form of anything, and do that which is evil in the sight of the LORD your God so as to provoke Him to anger, 26  I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that you will surely perish quickly from the land where you are going over the Jordan to possess it. You shall not live long on it, but will be utterly destroyed. 27  "The LORD will scatter you among the peoples, and you will be left few in number among the nations where the LORD drives you. 28  "There you will serve gods, the work of man’s hands, wood and stone, which neither see nor hear nor eat nor smell. 29  "But from there you will seek the LORD your God, and you will find Him if you search for Him with all your heart and all your soul. 30  "When you are in distress and all these things have come upon you, in the latter days you will return to the LORD your God and listen to His voice. 31  "For the LORD your God is a compassionate God; He will not fail you nor destroy you nor forget the covenant with your fathers which He swore to them.”

I think that it is best to start this portion of this SD with Hebrews 12:6, “For whom the LORD loves He chastens, And scourges every son whom He receives.”  (NKJV)  God is telling Israel through Moses, that they must keep their covenant with Him, and if they did not then there would be discipline for them, but even this discipline comes from the loving hand of God.  Some of the covenants that God made with Israel were conditional covenants and some were unconditional covenants, the one spoke of here is conditional, in other words if they did as God told them then blessings would come and if they did not then the disciplining would come.

I want to focus in on verse thirty and the phrase “latter days” in that verse for I believe that the latter days are upon us and part of this evidence is that Israel is now back in their land, and although when they first went into their land on May 14th, 1948 they came in as a people who believed that God was bringing them back into the land as He promised, but their spiritual condition was not what it will be when as Paul writes in Romans that “all Israel will be saved.”  The things that are written in this section of Scripture have happened just as God said they would if Israel did not do as He had told them to do, and Israel did agree with this covenant when it was given at Mt. Sinai.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  Fulfilled prophecy is what the Lord used to bring me unto Himself and therefore I have been so very interested in following the things that have been going on in Israel and around the world that have to do with the “latter days” or end times.  Watching these things unfold before my eyes is something that increases my faith in the Lord.

My Steps of Faith for Today:

  1. Trust the Lord to guide my path today.
  2. Trust the Lord to work out the medicine that I need to take in order to keep my b/p down in the right range.
  3. Trust the Lord to work things out in the case that Sandy has against her former surgeon and also to keep her in balance while all of this is going on.
  4. Give myself to the Lord for worship and service for today.

Memory verses for the week:                                              Ephesians 1:1-2

1.        Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, To the saints who are at Ephesus and who are faithful in Christ Jesus:

2.        Grace to you and peace from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
