God was Faithful in the Past (Deu. 7:17-19)

SPIRITUAL DIARY

My Worship Time                              Focus:  God was faithful in the past

Bible Reading & Meditation               Reference:  Deuteronomy 7:17-19

Message of the verses:  “17  "If you should say in your heart, ‘These nations are greater than I; how can I dispossess them?’ 18  you shall not be afraid of them; you shall well remember what the LORD your God did to Pharaoh and to all Egypt: 19  the great trials which your eyes saw and the signs and the wonders and the mighty hand and the outstretched arm by which the LORD your God brought you out. So shall the LORD your God do to all the peoples of whom you are afraid.”

The forth reason why Israel, and for that matter all believers, should trust in the Law of the Lord and in the Lord, and that forth reason is the forth division in Warren Wiersbe’s book on Deuteronomy.  Promises from the Lord is this forth reason and the first sub-division is what I will be looking at this evening, this evening of my 62nd birthday, and that is “God was faithful in the past.”

This second generation of the nation of Israel that God brought out of the land of Egypt has seen many, many miracles done by the Lord, and has seen a number of nations defeated through the Lord too.  The Egyptian nation was defeated through the ten miracles that God did, and also the Midianites were defeated by Israel through the power of the Lord along with Sihon, King of Heshbon; and Og, King of Bashan, and also the nations on the East side of the Jordan river were defeated and their land given to Reuben, Gad, and half the tribe of Manasseh and they settled their families there and were waiting to cross the Jordan river to defeat the enemies on the West side of the Jordan.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  A good reminder for me as a NT believer in Jesus Christ alone for my salvation would be to participate in the Lord’s Supper, for in that celebration I am to look back at what the Lord did for me at Calvary and look forward to the Lord Jesus coming in the clouds to take me home to be with Him forever.

My Steps of Faith for Today:

  1. Trust the Lord to guide my path today.
  2. Trust the Lord to continue to teach me more about contentment.
