My Worship Time Focus: The Law of God Part 2
Bible Reading & Meditation Reference: Deuteronomy 5:11
Message of the verses: “11
‘You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD
will not leave him unpunished who takes His name in vain.”
This
is the third commandment and it is a lot more than swearing that is being
talked about here. God’s reputation and
character are also involved here and when a person just does not swear they can
do other things that cause the reputation and character of God to be
damaged. In the Lord ’s Prayer it says,
“Hallowed be Thy name,” and this means to live in a way that we help to answer
that prayer, that we do bring honor and glory to His name.
Spiritual meaning for my life today: I am not doing all of the things in my
devotions for the last couple of days that I want to do due to the fact that I
have been working a lot of hours at the church and am very tired when I get
home. This bothers me because I do not
want to skip doing my devotions in a better way than I have these last couple
of days.
My Steps of Faith for Today:
- Do a better job at my devotions tomorrow.
- Give myself to the Lord for worship and service.
- Trust the Lord to guide my path today.
