SPIRITUAL DIARY

My Worship Time                                        Focus:  Confession

Bible Reading & Meditation                        Reference:  Deuteronomy 6:4

Message of the verse:  “4 ¶ “Hear, O Israel! The LORD is our God, the LORD is one!”

This verse is a part of what is known in Israel as the Shema, which is a Hebrew word which means “to hear.”  In truly Orthodox Jewish homes the Shema is the first thing that Jewish boys learn after they learn to talk and it is said each and every morning and evening of each day.

The word one (ehad) is a word that means unity as well as “numerical oneness.”  When God spoke of the oneness of Adam and Even in Genesis 2:24 this is used along with the oneness of curtains in the tabernacle, and “the word also carries the idea of uniqueness.”  There is certainly room in this word to believe that the One true God of Israel has three persons in it as the NT teaches.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  The uniqueness of the God that I worship is that He is One God, (three in one) and that other religious peoples do not worship the same God, and some worship idols and even demons and devils, so it is important to me that I worship the One True Living God of the Bible.

My Steps of Faith for Today:

  1. Continue to learn contentment.
  2. Trust the Lord to guide my path each and every day.
