SPIRITUAL DIARY

My Worship Time                                        Focus:  Separation means blessing

Bible Reading & Meditation                        Reference:  Deut. 7:7-16

Message of the verses:  “7  "The LORD did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any of the peoples, for you were the fewest of all peoples, 8  but because the LORD loved you and kept the oath which He swore to your forefathers, the LORD brought you out by a mighty hand and redeemed you from the house of slavery, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. 9  "Know therefore that the LORD your God, He is God, the faithful God, who keeps His covenant and His lovingkindness to a thousandth generation with those who love Him and keep His commandments; 10  but repays those who hate Him to their faces, to destroy them; He will not delay with him who hates Him, He will repay him to his face. 11  "Therefore, you shall keep the commandment and the statutes and the judgments which I am commanding you today, to do them.

12 ¶  "Then it shall come about, because you listen to these judgments and keep and do them, that the LORD your God will keep with you His covenant and His lovingkindness which He swore to your forefathers. 13  "He will love you and bless you and multiply you; He will also bless the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your ground, your grain and your new wine and your oil, the increase of your herd and the young of your flock, in the land which He swore to your forefathers to give you. 14  "You shall be blessed above all peoples; there will be no male or female barren among you or among your cattle. 15  "The LORD will remove from you all sickness; and He will not put on you any of the harmful diseases of Egypt which you have known, but He will lay them on all who hate you. 16  "You shall consume all the peoples whom the LORD your God will deliver to you; your eye shall not pity them, nor shall you serve their gods, for that would be a snare to you.”

I have split this overall section that is from Dr. Wiersbe’s book into two parts with this being the second part.

Moses begins in verse seven telling this second generation that came out of Egypt that God did not chose Israel because they were the largest of nations but because He loved and He has kept His oath that He gave to their forefathers.  God has called them to be a separated people unto Himself, that they may be the ones who receive His promises, receive His Word, receive His land, and also be the one’s who would bring the Messiah into this world.

God goes on to tell them that if they keep the commandments that He gives to them that He would bless them with good crops, good animals, and many other physical blessings.  The Church however is not promised these things if they obey the Lord’s commandments, and this is something that is taught in some churches and it is a great error, for this is putting God into a box in order to have Him perform for them, and God will not do that.

Moses started out in verse one and says almost the same thing in verse sixteen, that they should conquer all of the land that God has given them when they go into the Promised Land.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  Separation is something that is key in both the nation and also in the Church era for God has called both Israel and the Church to be separated from the world system.  We are to live in this world but we are not to be of this world, and at times that is something that is difficult to do.

My Steps of Faith for Today:

  1. Continue to trust the Lord to guide my path.
  2. Continue to learn contentment.
