SPIRITUAL DIARY
My Worship Time Focus: Because of what God did
Bible Reading &
Meditation Reference: Leviticus 26:1:2a
Message of the verse: “2 ‘You shall keep My sabbaths and reverence
My sanctuary; I am the LORD.”
The portion
of Scripture that goes with this SD is the first part of verse two “You shall
keep My sabbaths,” and this refers to all of the feasts that are spoken of in
chapter nine of Leviticus. This was
studied when I went over chapter nine and also chapter twenty-three, and “it
was noted that these special days reminded the Jews of God’s goodness to
them.”
For example
when the Passover was celebrated it was a reminder of when God destroyed the
nation of Egypt and brought
the children of Israel out
of Egypt
freeing them from slavery. There were
different harvest feasts including first fruits and also Pentecost along with
Tabernacles. The weekly Sabbath was also
a reminder that the Jews were special to God, and they were to give thanks for
what the Lord had done for them throughout that week.
Spiritual meaning for my life today: Part of the prayer schedule that I try to
follow includes “thanksgiving,” and this is part of what this part of my verse
for today’s study is speaking about, for God is telling the children of Israel
that when the keep His sabbaths they are being reminded of what God has done
for them, that He is faithful to them and that He is worthy of worship and
praise for what He had done for them and what He will do for them in sending
His Son to pay for their sins and then set them free, truly free from the
bondage of sin, not just free from their bondage of slavery while they were in
Egypt.
I am sure
that I do not do enough of worshiping and praising God for what He has done for
me, but that does not mean that I should not do a better job of that for
without what the Lord did for me I would not be who I am today and have the
very special hope of one day being with the Lord in heaven where I will be with
Him forever.
My Steps of Faith for
Today:
- Remember to praise the Lord in a similar way that I did when I was praying last night, but do this more often.
Memory verses for the week: Romans
6:1-6
- What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin so that grace may increase?
- May it never be! How shall we who died to sin still live in it?
- Or do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death?
- Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life.
- For if we have become untied with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall also be in the likeness of His resurrection,
- knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him, in order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin;
