The Person Offered the Required Sacrifices )Lev. 14:10-32)

SPIRITUAL DIARY

My Worship Time           Focus:  The person offered the required sacrifices

Bible Reading & Meditation     Reference:  Leviticus 14:10-32

Message of the verses:  I will not include the verses in this SD because of there are many verses in this section.

“10 ¶  "On the next day, the eighth day, each person cured of the skin disease must bring two male lambs and one female year-old lamb with no physical defects, along with five quarts of choice flour mixed with olive oil and three-fifths of a pint of olive oil.”  Verse ten speaks of which day the sacrifices are to be offered and what the sacrifices are to be offered.  Eight is a number of completion and it is on the eight day that the sacrifices are to be offered to the Lord after the person has been declared clean from leprosy.

Dr. Wiersbe writes about the sacrifices that are offered and says this about them:  “On the basis of these sacrifices, the priest had pronounced the man clean (Lev. 14:7), because these sacrifices picture the person and work of Jesus Christ.  The sin offering shows Christ atoning for a person’s sin.  The trespass offering reminds us that Christ paid the debt we owed to Go because, like the leper, we were unable serve Him during our days of uncleanness.  In the burnt offering, the man dedicated himself completely to God, and the meal offering displayed the perfections of the worshiper.”

Another interesting thing that goes on here is that this is very similar, in fact almost the same ceremony as when a priest is treated when he becomes a priest as was written about in earlier SD’s.

The leper was not able to work while he was declared a leper and so the Lord provides another set of sacrifices if he could not provide the ones that are spoken of in verse one.

Once this ceremony was completed the person was declared clean.  He did not have to do anything else in order to be declared clean, and this is like the salvation that has been given to sinners, for Jesus paid it all and all an unrepentant sinner must to is to accept the work that Christ did for them while on the cross in order to be saved from their sin.  Jesus Paid It ALL!

In verses 33-57 God gives instructions to Moses for houses with that are infected with mildew or fungus and what to do with them and if they can be cleaned what sacrifices will be offered.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  The similarities between the cleansing of a leper and me as a sinner are almost the same.  Jesus Christ paid the price for me and that sacrifice that He paid for me is all that is needed for my salvation.  Ephesians 2:2-9 speak of this, and then verse 10 speaks of what it is I am to do because of this free gift that was given to me.  “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.”  I have been declared righteous before God because of what Jesus Christ did for me on the cross and now I am on the Lord’s side and have been inducted into the Lord’s Army in order to serve and worship Him the rest of my life here on earth and beyond.

My Steps of Faith for Today:

  1. Trust the Lord to provide what I need while living here in North Ridgeville, Ohio because it does not seem like He wants me to work in another location at this time.  I will admit that not being able to go to Hawaii has been very, very difficult on me, yet God has made it clear that I am not to be there at this time.

Memory verses for the week:                                  Exodus 20:8-12

  1. Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
  2. Six days you shall labor and do all your work,
  3. but the seventh day is a Sabbath of the Lord your God; in it you shall not do any work, you or your son or your daughter, your male or female servant or your cattle or your sojourner who stays with you.
  4. For in six day the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day; therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.
  5. Honor your father and your mother, that the days may be prolonged in the land that the Lord your God gives you.
