SPIRITUAL DIARY
My Worship Time Focus: Flying Insects
Bible Reading & Meditation Reference: Leviticus 11:20-23
Message of the verses: “20 ¶
‘All the winged insects that walk on all fours are detestable to
you. 21
‘Yet these you may eat among all the winged insects which walk on all
fours: those which have above their feet jointed legs with which to jump on the
earth. 22 ‘These of them you may eat: the locust in its
kinds, and the devastating locust in its kinds, and the cricket in its kinds,
and the grasshopper in its kinds.
23 ‘But all other winged insects
which are four-footed are detestable to you.”
The
commentary that was given by Warren Wiersbe in this section of Scripture was
very insightful to me as it gave an excellent Spiritual Message for this and
not just the meaning of it. The meaning
of these verses is that the children of Israel were not to eat the unclean
things mentioned in this passage but could eat the clean things that were
mentioned in this passage.
Warren
Wiersbe points out that in order for a person to eat the things that he is
suppose to he must hate the things that he is not suppose to eat, and this has
to be a life long commitment. In order
for me to loose the weight that I need to loose and to maintain a healthful
weight I have to learn to hate things that are sweet, things like cakes, pies,
and other things like these in order to succeed.
Spiritual meaning for my life today: In order for me to have a successful walk
with the Lord I will have to have the same kind of attitude about sin that I
have about the sweets in my diet that are harmful to me, and that is I will
have to hate sin and love righteousness in order to walk with the Lord with the
kind of walk that I am to have. This is
something that I have to learn to hate, sin and sweets.
My Steps of Faith for Today:
- By the grace of God and the power of the Holy Spirit I am going to have to learn to hate sin and sweets for the rest of my life.
- By the grace of God and the power of the Holy Spirit I am going to have to learn to love good foods that do not harm me or cause me to gain weight and to love righteousness and do the things that cause me to have a good walk with my Lord.
- Give myself to the Lord.
- Trust that the Lord will guide my path today.
- Trust that the Lord will teach me to learn contentment.
Memory verses for the week: Exodus 20:7-10
7. "You shall not take the name of the
LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not leave him unpunished who takes His
name in vain.
8
"Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
9
"Six days you shall labor and do all your work,
10 but the seventh day is a sabbath of the LORD
your God; in it you shall not do any work, you or your son or your daughter,
your male or your female servant or your cattle or your sojourner who stays
with you.
