SPIRITUAL DIARY

My Worship Time Focus: The high priest washes himself and put on his official garments

Bible Reading & Meditation               Reference:  Leviticus 16:23-24

Message of the verses:  “23  "Then Aaron shall come into the tent of meeting and take off the linen garments which he put on when he went into the holy place, and shall leave them there.  24  "He shall bathe his body with water in a holy place and put on his clothes, and come forth and offer his burnt offering and the burnt offering of the people and make atonement for himself and for the people.

This SD will be brief because the material here has already been gone over.  Moses directs Aaron to change his clothes from the regular priest garments which he had used when offering the sacrifices on the Day of Atonement and put on the glorious priests attire after he had bathed himself.

The picture here is of Jesus Christ leaving His glorious home in heaven to put on humanity and then after offering Himself as a sacrifice for the sins of the world to return to His glorious home in heaven.  I realize that this is the simple story of what Jesus Christ did but it is the true story of what He did.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  This simple story has a lot of parts in it that I may never understand, but I do understand enough of it that has caused me to believe it and be saved from my sins.  I still sin and am troubled very much when I do sin, but the Bible is clear that by accepting the forgiveness that Jesus Christ offers’ to me without cost to me and trust in Christ alone for my salvation I have been saved and for this I will be thankful forever more!

My Steps of Faith for Today:

  1. Trust that the Lord will teach me, and that I will learn contentment.
  2. Trust the Lord to guide my path today.
  3. Trust the Lord to accept me as a living sacrifice as Paul writes about in Romans 12:1-2.
  4. Remember that Jesus Christ died for me and that He will come again to catch me and all believers up to Him in the clouds.

Memory verses for the week:                                              Exodus 20:8-13

  1. Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
  2. Six days you shall labor and do all your work,
  3. but the seventh day is a Sabbath of the Lord your God; in it you shall not do any work, your or your son or your daughter, your male of female servant or your cattle or your sojourner who stays with you.
  4. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day; therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.
  5. Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be prolonged in the land which the Lord your God gives you.
  6. You shall not commit murder.
