SPIRITUAL DIARY

My Worship Time                                        Focus:  Precepts Relating to Things

Bible Reading & Meditation                        Reference:  Lev. 19:30-37

Message of the verses:  “30 ¶  ‘You shall keep My sabbaths and revere My sanctuary; I am the LORD.  31  ‘Do not turn to mediums or spiritists; do not seek them out to be defiled by them. I am the LORD your God.  32  ‘You shall rise up before the grayheaded and honor the aged, and you shall revere your God; I am the LORD.  33  ‘When a stranger resides with you in your land, you shall not do him wrong.  34  ‘The stranger who resides with you shall be to you as the native among you, and you shall love him as yourself, for you were aliens in the land of Egypt; I am the LORD your God.  35  ‘You shall do no wrong in judgment, in measurement of weight, or capacity.  36  ‘You shall have just balances, just weights, a just ephah, and a just hin; I am the LORD your God, who brought you out from the land of Egypt.  37  ‘You shall thus observe all My statutes and all My ordinances and do them; I am the LORD.’”

In these eight verses it can be seen that the Ten Commandments are all through what is said here.  The Ten Commandments, as mentioned before, can be seen in two parts, and that is mans relationship with God and mans relationship with man.  Jesus used these two divisions in the Ten Commandments to give the two greatest commandments when He said that a person is to love the Lord his God with all his heart, soul, and mind, and love his neighbor as himself, and then went on to say that theses were the two greatest commandments.  So as I have looked at the laws in this chapter I can see the Ten Commandments in them.  Things like keeping the Sabbath, and worshiping the Lord and not demons or idols, things like honoring your parents, and not cheating your neighbor, as they are all in these verses.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  In all of these laws and commands given by the Lord I am to remember that by keeping them there is great reward as the Psalmist spoke of in Psalm nineteen.  There are also great problems when not keeping them, even though there is forgiveness of the sin of not keeping them, there are still consequences in not keeping them.

My Steps of Faith for Today:

  1. Jesus said that if you love Me you will keep my commandments, and I do love the Lord Jesus Christ, for He first love me, and because He took my place on the cross to give me forgiveness of sins and also eternal life with Him.  I want to remember that there is a difference between forgiveness and consequences’ for not keeping the law.

Memory verses for the week:                                  Exodus 20:12-16

12.      Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be prolonged in the land which the Lord your God gives you.

13.      You shall not murder.

14.      You shall not commit adultery.

15.      You shall not steal.

16.      You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
