Because of Where God Dwells (Lev. 26:2b)

SPIRITUAL DIARY

My Worship Time                              Focus:  Because of where God dwells

Bible Reading & Meditation               Reference:  Leviticus 26:2b

            Message of the verse:  “2  ‘You shall keep My sabbaths and reverence My sanctuary; I am the LORD.”

            The part of the verse that is being used in today’s SD is “and reverence My sanctuary; I am the Lord.”  The entire camp where all of Israel lived during their march out of Egypt all the way to the Promised Land was their camp and it was where the Lord dwelt while they were on that forty-year journey and it was scared.  If anyone did something wrong by sinning they were put out of the camp because they were not to be where the Lord was dwelling for He is Holy.  The most sacred part of the camp was surely the Tabernacle, and that is where the Lord was dwelling, however He was in the form of the cloud and the fire to lead and to protect and warm them at night.

            Dr. Wiersbe points out that the place of dwelling for the Lord in the Church age is the body of believers, for the Holy Spirit dwells in the hearts of all believers in the Church age and therefore each believer should care for his body because the Holy Spirit dwells there.  This should also cause the believer to live for the Lord.

            Spiritual meaning for my life today:  I can say that I do not take care of my body the way that I should and I can also say that it is a difficult discipline for me to do this.  I know that sin grieves the Holy Spirit and therefore I should take more care in not falling into temptation and sinning.

My Steps of Faith for Today:

  1. I would like to say that I will never sin again, but I know that is impossible while still in this body, but that should never the less be my goal.  I would like to say that I will be able to loose some weight and be able to keep it off, but again this is very difficult for me to accomplish and will surely need the Spirit’s help to accomplish this.

Memory verses for the week:                                  Romans 6:1-6

  1. What shall we say then?  Are we to continue in sin so that grace may increase?
  2. May it never be!  How shall we who died to sin still live in it?
  3. Or do you not know that all who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death?
  4. Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life.
  5. For if we have become united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall also be in the likeness of His resurrection,
  6. knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him, in order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin;
