The Person Cleanses Himself Again (Lev. 14:9)

SPIRITUAL DIARY

My Worship Time                              Focus:  The person cleanses himself again

Bible Reading & Meditation               Reference Lev. 14:9

Message of the verses:  “9  "It will be on the seventh day that he shall shave off all his hair: he shall shave his head and his beard and his eyebrows, even all his hair. He shall then wash his clothes and bathe his body in water and be clean.”

Although this is a repeat verse from yesterday’s SD Dr. Wiersbe has made a special point from this verse that he has written about.

Jesus spoke to Nicodemus telling him that he must be born again or born from above.  This new birth that Jesus spoke of was necessary because all people that have been born of Adam’s race, with the exception of Jesus Christ, are born with a sin nature, they are born into sin, they are born wrong, and this makes it necessary to have a new birth if they wish to get into heaven.  It may be stretching it a bit to say that this verse points to the new birth, but there are things here that seem to point to it.  I do wish to point out that the new birth that experienced by all believers that Jesus speaks of is done completely by the work of the Holy Spirit as can be seen in the conversation that went on between Jesus and Nicodemus.  In the verse today there shows a need of that cleansing but it is done by the person who had been cleansed from leprosy by the Lord.  This person had to shave himself all over two times and so this could be looked at as having a new body, (I said that this could be a stretch).  This cleansing and shaving that went on just proved that God was the one who gave the cleansing in the first place.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  In some ways this verse could also show the good works that a person does after he has been cleansed by God.  The good works that I am to do I believe are written in God’s Word, and also some of these good works that I am to do have been appointed for me to do in eternity past.  (See Ephesians 2:10).

My Steps of Faith for Today:

  1. Trust the Lord to show me the good works that I am to do for Him.
  2. Trust the Lord to reveal any sin that I have committed and not confessed to Him.
  3. Give myself to the Lord for worship and service.
  4. Trust the Lord to teach me and for me to learn contentment from His teachings.
  5. Trust the Lord to guide my path today.
  6. Put on the spiritual armor of God.

Memory verses for the week:                                  Exodus 20:8-12

  1.  Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
  2.  Six days you shall labor and do all your work,
  3.   but the seventh day is a Sabbath of the Lord your God; in it you shall not  do any work, you or your son or your daughter, your male or female servant or your cattle or your sojourner who stays with you.
  4. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day; therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.
  5. Honor your father and mother, that your days may be prolonged in the land which the Lord God gives you.
