The Priest's Daughter (Lev. 21:9)

SPIRITUAL DIARY

My Worship Time                                        Focus:  The priest’s daughter

Bible Reading & Meditation                        Reference:  Lev. 21:9

Message of the verse:  “9  And the daughter of any priest, if she profane herself by playing the whore, she profanes her father: she shall be burnt with fire.”

This verse is speaking of the daughter of any priest.  Now if the priest’s daughter becomes a whore or plays the whore then she will be killed, and she probably would be stoned, but after she is stoned her body would be burned up like common trash.  The priest was responsible to raise his daughter in the correct manner so that she would not turn out to be a disgrace to her family, especially her father who held the position of being a priest.  There are times when a family does everything they can do in order to raise their children to serve the Lord, but the child just refuses to do so and at that time there has to be something done that is drastic.

In the Church today if a child of a person who is a Pastor or a Deacon disgraces their father the father must step down from the position of Pastor or Deacon.  I think that this refers to a child who lives with their parents and not an older child who has moved out from the control of the parent’s household.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  In this important area of my life I am indeed thankful to the Lord, for both of our children have turned out to serve the Lord and this is a probably the most important thing that Sandy and I could have ever been a part of.  God gave us two very wonderful children and we will be ever thankful that we did not have much trouble at all when we had the privilege to raise them while they lived in our house.

My Steps of Faith for Today:

  1. Trust the Lord that our grandchildren will turn out as well as our children has turned out and serve the Lord when they are all old enough to understand that, that is what they should be doing.

Memory verses for the week:                                              Exodus 20:12-16
