SPIRITUAL DIARY
My Worship Time Focus: Unnatural female discharges
Bible Reading & Meditation Reference: Leviticus 15:25-33
Message of the verses: “25
‘Now if a woman has a discharge of her blood many days, not at the
period of her menstrual impurity, or if she has a discharge beyond that period,
all the days of her impure discharge she shall continue as though in her
menstrual impurity; she is unclean. 26 ‘Any bed on which she lies all the days of
her discharge shall be to her like her bed at menstruation; and every thing on
which she sits shall be unclean, like her uncleanness at that time. 27
‘Likewise, whoever touches them shall be unclean and shall wash his
clothes and bathe in water and be unclean until evening. 28 ‘When
she becomes clean from her discharge, she shall count off for herself seven
days; and afterward she will be clean.
29 ‘Then on the eighth day she
shall take for herself two turtledoves or two young pigeons and bring them in
to the priest, to the doorway of the tent of meeting. 30
‘The priest shall offer the one for a sin offering and the other for a
burnt offering. So the priest shall make atonement on her behalf before the
LORD because of her impure discharge.’
31 "Thus you shall keep the
sons of Israel
separated from their uncleanness, so that they will not die in their
uncleanness by their defiling My tabernacle that is among them."
32 This is the law for the one with a discharge,
and for the man who has a seminal emission so that he is unclean by it, 33 and for the woman who is ill because of
menstrual impurity, and for the one who has a discharge, whether a male or a
female, or a man who lies with an unclean woman.”
In
this section Moses gives God’s laws concerning an unnatural discharge for a
woman, not just the discharge of her monthly cycle which was considered
natural. One of the differences here is
that after the discharge stops for seven days the woman must go to the
tabernacle and offer two sacrifices to the Lord, one a sin offering and the
other a burnt offering.
Anyone
who touches this woman will be unclean until the end of the day. There is a story of a woman who has had an
unnatural discharge in Mark 5 and also in Luke 8 who comes into a crowd in
order to touch the garment of Jesus in order to be healed for she has had this
for twelve years. All of those she
touched in the crowd would be unclean along with Jesus, but Jesus had mercy on
her and healed her from this unnatural discharge.
As
I look back at all of these laws that were in these last three chapter you can
certainly see a parallel to sin and how sin operates in the mind and soul of a
person and I can also see the physical side of these aliments that need to be
watched over so that they do not spread to others. These laws were nothing to take lightly and
that is why God put them in His Word.
The theme of Leviticus is Holiness for God says a number of times in
this book, “Be holy for the Lord your God is holy.”
Spiritual meaning for my life today: Sin surely is like the ailments that are
discussed in these three chapter, how it can move almost without knowing it and
how the only way to stop it is to have the forgiveness that can only be found
in Jesus Christ and then to have the Holy Spirit search my heart daily for
unconfessed sin in order to keep fellowship with the Lord.
My Steps of Faith for Today:
- Ask the Holy Spirit to search my heart today.
- Put on the spiritual armor.
- Give myself to the Lord for worship and service.
- Trust the Lord to guide my path today.
Memory verses for the week: Exodus
20:8-12
- Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
- Six days you shall labor and do all your work,
- but the seventh day is as Sabbath of the Lord your God; in it you shall not do any work, your of your son or your daughter, your male of female servant or your cattle or your sojourner who stays with you.
- For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day; therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.
- Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be prolonged in the land which the Lord your God gives you.
