The Offering of Sacrifices (Lev. 17:809)

SPIRITUIAL DIARY

My Worship Time                              Focus:  The offering of sacrifices

Bible Reading & Meditation               Reference:  Lev. 17:8-9

Message of the verses:  “8 "Then you shall say to them, ‘Any man from the house of Israel, or from the aliens who sojourn among them, who offers a burnt offering or sacrifice, 9 and does not bring it to the doorway of the tent of meeting to offer it to the LORD, that man also shall be cut off from his people.”

God is saying through Moses that all the sacrifices that the Jewish people were to offer were to be brought to the tabernacle, for no sacrifice could be offered any place else other that the tabernacle and later on at the temple in Jerusalem.

As far as killing animals for food this would change when the children of Israel entered the land of Cannon.  “15  "However, you may slaughter and eat meat within any of your gates, whatever you desire, according to the blessing of the LORD your God which He has given you; the unclean and the clean may eat of it, as of the gazelle and the deer.  16 “Only you shall not eat the blood; you are to pour it out on the ground like water.  (Der. 12:15-16)  These verses show that because there was a great distance from most of the children of Israel to where the tabernacle and then the temple were that they could kill animals for food at their houses, but they had to drain the blood so that they would not eat any of the blood because it is the life source of all living creatures.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  I was reading from Matthew, chapter twelve this morning and in it Jesus and His disciples were rubbing some grain together in order to eat the grain and were accused of breaking the Sabbath by the Pharisees.  Jesus goes on to tell them about when King David at some of the bread from the tabernacle that was not suppose to be eaten by him and then told them that He the Son of Man was Lord over the Sabbath.  In the section above God allows the people to kill their farm animals for food at their homes because of the distance to Jerusalem because He is the God of Love and cares for His children and is not the God of disorder trying to make things difficult on His children as some would think.

My Steps of Faith for Today:

1.     Trust the Lord to do what is right and just as far as what will happen to our money that Andrew Lech controls.  I know that it will take a miracle from the Lord for Andrew to return the funds that he owes us and also that it would be glory to the Lord if Andrew does this because it would show that most of the articles in the newspapers were not true, articles that drug the name of the Lord through the mud.  It would also bring honor and glory to the Lord because it would be of great benefit in the life of Andrew Lech to overcome his hording that he suffers from and then would be able to use more of his funds for the glory of the Lord.  It would also bring glory to the Lord for those who will have their funds returned, for in some cases they will have learned some valuable lessons about money and about how the Lord is in control of all things.

Memory verses for the week:                                  Exodus 20:12-14

12.      Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be prolonged in the land which the Lord your God gives you.

13.      You shall not murder.

14.      You shall not commit adultery.
