The Priest Goes to the Leper (Lev. 14:1-3)

SPIRITUAL DIARY

My Worship Time                              Focus:  The priest goes to the leper

Bible Reading & Meditation               Reference:  Lev. 14:1-3

Message of the verses:  “1 ¶  Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 2  "This shall be the law of the leper in the day of his cleansing. Now he shall be brought to the priest, 3  and the priest shall go out to the outside of the camp. Thus the priest shall look, and if the infection of leprosy has been healed in the leper,”

Now I am moving to the next subtitle in this chapter in Dr. Wiersbe’s book, “Be Holy.”  This subtitle and section speaks of salvation and is extremely different from the first section which spoke of sin.  One has to have the bad news before he can appreciate the good news.  “The steps of the leper’s cleansing and restoration picture to us what Jesus Christ has done for sinners.”

In the case of the priest going to the lepers, he had to for they were not allowed inside the camp, but this shows a picture of the Lord Jesus Christ coming from heaven and then going to sinners to whom He offered salvation too.  Jesus came to seek and to save those who are lost.  Jesus did indeed make house calls and His reputation while on earth was to go to sinners and publicans, and I for one am glade that He still does that today.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  It is good to talk about salvation and to think about how it was that God save me through Jesus Christ often.  One of the articles of the spiritual armor is the helmet of salvation, which of course goes on my head, and it seems to me that it was the most difficult to understand on how it protects me and enables me to stand when attacked.  I have come to the conclusion that I am to reflect on the great free gift of salvation that God has given to me when being tempted by the devil and that is, to me, what that article of the spiritual armor is all about.

My Steps of Faith for Today:

  1. Remember to think about the salvation that God has given to me, the history of when God saved me.
  2. Give myself to the Lord for service and worship.
  3. Put on the spiritual armor.
  4. Trust the Lord to direct my path today.
  5. Trust the Lord to choose the next President and Vice-President of this nation, the one He desires to have elected.
  6. Trust the Lord in the returning of our funds from Andrew Lech.
  7. Trust the Lord to teach me, and for me to learn contentment.

Memory verses for the week:                                  Exodus 20:8-11

  1. Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
  2. Six day you shall labor and do all your work,
  3. but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God; in it you shall not do any work, your or your son or your daughter, or your male or female servant or your cattle or your sojourner who stays with you.
  4. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day; therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.
