Aaron Was Clothed (Lev. 8:7-9)

My Worship time            Focus:  Aaron was clothed

Bible Reading & Meditation               Reference:  Leviticus 8:7-9

Message of the verses:  “7  He put the tunic on him and girded him with the sash, and clothed him with the robe and put the ephod on him; and he girded him with the artistic band of the ephod, with which he tied it to him.  8  He then placed the breastpiece on him, and in the breastpiece he put the Urim and the Thummim.  9  He also placed the turban on his head, and on the turban, at its front, he placed the golden plate, the holy crown, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.”

The picture of the high priests garments are on page two of this SD.

I have gone over a lot of the things that have to do with the garments of the High Priest when I studied the book of Exodus.  When I copy and past this SD into the Online Bible in the verses listed above the SD from the appropriate verse from Exodus will be there too.

What I want to do in this SD is to write about how believers today are similar to the high priest and what he wore.  Believers today are “believer priests,” and this is seen in 1 Peter and in Revelations.  Believers today are clothed with the righteousness of Jesus Christ and are accepted in Him.  “I will rejoice greatly in the LORD, My soul will exult in my God; For He has clothed me with garments of salvation, He has wrapped me with a robe of righteousness, As a bridegroom decks himself with a garland, And as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.”  (Isaiah 61:10)  “He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”  (2 Cor. 5:21)  This verse is one of my favorite verses in that it shows the exchange that Christ has made for me by taking my sin and then giving me His righteousness.

Both Aaron and the tabernacle were anointed as seen in Leviticus 8:10-12, and this anointing oil was very special oil that was only to be used by the priests.  In the Scriptures oil often represents the Holy Spirit and it is the Holy Spirit who has anointed the believers.  “But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you all know.”  (1 John 2:20)  Christ and Messiah both mean the Anointed One.  It is amazing to me how all of Scripture seems to fit together and has meaning like as seen in what has been written in this SD.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  God looks at my ugly sinfulness and then because of what Jesus Christ has done for me on the cross He gives me the beautiful clothes of righteousness, something that I will never deserve and could never earn and has promised me that someday I will be with Jesus Christ either through death of this sinful body or being caught up in the air with Him when He comes to gather His bride from this earth.

My Steps of Faith for Today:

  1. Trust the Lord to guide my path today.
  2. Give myself to the Lord for worship and service today.
  3. Put on the spiritual armor so that I can stand in the battle today.

Memory verses for the week:                      Exodus 20:4-7

  1. You shall not make for yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth.
  2. You shall not worship them or serve them; for I, the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children on the third and forth generations of those who hate me,
  3. but showing lovingkindness to thousands, to those who love me and keep my commandments.
  4. You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not leave him unpunished who takes His name in vain.
