Aaron & His Sons Washed (Lev. 8:6)

My Worship Time           Focus:  Aaron and his sons washed

Bible Reading & Meditation               Reference:  Leviticus 8:6

Message of the verse:  “6  Then Moses had Aaron and his sons come near and washed them with water.”

This verse was used in an earlier SD while studying the book of Exodus on 07-28-08.  Aaron and his sons were washed entirely one time and then they would was at the laver whenever serving the Lord at the tabernacle.  The washing of the entire body is a picture of salvation and the washing at the laver is a picture confessing sins after one has become a believer.  Rev. 1:5-6 speaks of having Christ washing one of their sins:  “5  And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, 6  And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.”  (AV)  “9 ¶  Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, 10  nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God.  11  Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.”  (1Cor. 6:9-11 NASB 95)   John 13:1-10 speaks of Jesus Christ washing the disciple’s feet thus showing them the need to confess their sins as believers in Him.  1 John 1:9 speaks of believer confessing their sins to the Lord.

There are different passages in the Scripture that show the Word of God as water:  Psalm 119:9; John 15:3; and Eph. 5:25-27.  “You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.”  (John 15:3)

Dr. Wiersbe writes:  “As we meditate on the Word of God and apply it to our lives, the Spirit of God uses the Word to cleanse us and make us more like Christ (2 Cor. 3:17-18).  “17  Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.  18  But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.”

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  I have been convicted of two things from the lesson this morning.  Confession and meditating are two things that are sadly lacking in my life in a way that could cause me to grow better in my walk with the Lord.  I have heard that if one can worry one has already proved that one can meditate on the Word of God.  Meditating is a positive way to worry.

My Steps of Faith for Today:

  1. Confession
  2. Meditate on God’s Word
  3. Give myself to the Lord for worship and service.
  4. Trust the Lord to direct my path.

Memory verses for the week:                      Exodus 20:1-6 (Review these verses)

  1. Then God spoke all these Word, saying,
  2. I am the Lord your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.
  3. You shall have no other gods before Me.
  4. You shall not make for yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth.
  5. You shall not worship them or serve them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children on the third and forth generation of those who hate me,
  6. but showing loving kindness to thousands, to those who love me and keep my commandments.
