Day two of this SD:  In Warren Wiersbe’s book on the tabernacle he tells about the meaning of the building of the tabernacle and what that means.  The tabernacle was made up of an outer court an inside the outer court was the structure that held the holy place and the holy of holies which was its own structure.  The outer court was seventy-five feet by one-hundred and fifty feet and it was always set up in a certain direction.  There was a thirty foot door that let the people into the outer court and the first thing that they saw was the altar where the priest would sacrifice their offering.  The priest would then have to wash his hands and feet in the bronze laver which was also outside of the other structure which held the holy place and the holy of holies.  Inside the holy place was the table of showbread, the golden lampstand, and also the altar of incense.  There was a curtain that separated the holy place from the holy of holies and inside the holy of holies was the Ark of the Covenant, the place where the Shekinah Glory of the Lord dwelt.  On the top of the  Ark of the Covenant was the Mercy seat with the two cherubim’s sitting across from each other.  Inside the Ark of the Covenant were the tablets of the Law, Aaron’s rod that budded, and a cup of Manna.

Now I will go to the lesson that is given for these two SD’s.

There was strength in the tabernacle proper seen by the way that it was constructed.  It had silver bases in the tabernacle portion that held up wooden pieces covered with gold that were around the Holy of Holies with the exception of the portion that had the curtain.

Beauty:  The tabernacle was a beautiful piece of workmanship that was built by very skilled people that were full of the Holy Spirit of God who enabled them to make this beautiful piece of work that honored the Lord God.  It was made up of gold, silver, bronze, animal skins and it had very beautiful colors in the fabric that was part of it.  I don’t think that the pictures of today do justice as to how beautiful this structure was.  Every part of this structure has a meaning and from what I have been able to learn it is all about the Lord Jesus Christ and especially His work on the cross to provide redemption.

Appreciation:  There were many in the OT times that appreciated the tabernacle and later on the temple that Solomon built and later the temple that those who returned from captivity built.  As stated above the Lord Jesus Christ is seen in both the tabernacle and also the temple and believers today have all that they need in Jesus Christ.

Davit wrote in Psalm 27:4 these words, “One thing I have asked from the LORD, that I shall seek: That I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the LORD And to meditate in His temple.”  And in Psalm 26:8, “O LORD, I love the habitation of Your house And the place where Your glory dwells.”  The sons of Korah wrote:  “How lovely are Your dwelling places, O LORD of hosts!  2  My soul longed and even yearned for the courts of the LORD; My heart and my flesh sing for joy to the living God. 4  How blessed are those who dwell in Your house! They are ever praising You. Selah.”

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  I realize that it is hard for me to think on these things such as Jesus Christ being all that I need in my life as I go through some of the hardest times that I have ever gone through in my life , yet in my heart of hearts I do believe that all that I am going through at this time has been designed by God for my good and for His glory.  As I look at this very small study on the wonderful study of God’s OT Tabernacle, which is so rich with meaning that I cannot even comprehend all that it means, but one thing that I know is that is pictures my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and that “seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence.”  Also, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.”  And also “And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.”

My Steps of Faith for Today:

  1. Trust in the Lord to guide my path and direct my steps through His Word and by His Spirit.
  2. Hang on to the promise that He will make away of escape when times are too much for me to handle.

Memory verses for the week:                                  Exodus 20:1-3

  1. Then God spoke all these words, saying,
  2. I am the Lord Your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.
  3. You shall have no other gods before me.
