The Priests Anointed (Lev. 8:30)

My Worship Time           Focus:  The priests anointed

Bible Reading & Meditation               Reference:  Leviticus 8:30

Message of the verse:  “30  So Moses took some of the anointing oil and some of the blood which was on the altar and sprinkled it on Aaron, on his garments, on his sons, and on the garments of his sons with him; and he consecrated Aaron, his garments, and his sons, and the garments of his sons with him.

Earlier in this chapter it can be seen that Aaron had the oil already poured on him:  “10  Moses then took the anointing oil and anointed the tabernacle and all that was in it, and consecrated them.  11  He sprinkled some of it on the altar seven times and anointed the altar and all its utensils, and the basin and its stand, to consecrate them.  12  Then he poured some of the anointing oil on Aaron’s head and anointed him, to consecrate him.”  Now he has the oil and also the blood poured onto him along with his sons and also on their garments too.  The difference here is that the blood was also poured on Aaron and it was also poured on his sons too.  This meant that these men were set apart for spiritual service before the Lord and that their clothes were only to be used for these special purposes of serving the Lord at the tabernacle and not to be used any place else.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  I don’t know if I am going to misuse some of the things that I am about to write here or if they are from the Holy Spirit, but here goes.  I believe that when Jesus Christ died on the cross and shed His blood to make payment for my sins that this is a picture that I had the blood of Christ applied to me spiritually similar as Aaron and his sons had physically done to them.  I believe that the Scriptures teach that I am set apart for service to the Lord, I was sanctified.  Here are some of those verses that speak of me, as a believer in Jesus Christ, as being sanctified:  “1Co 1:2  To the church of God which is at Corinth, to those who have been sanctified in Christ Jesus, saints by calling, with all who in every place call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, their Lord and ours:  Heb 2:11  For both He who sanctifies and those who are sanctified are all from one Father; for which reason He is not ashamed to call them brethren, Heb 10:10  By this will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.  Heb 10:14  For by one offering He has perfected for all time those who are sanctified.”

My Steps of Faith for Today:

  1. Praise the Lord that He has sanctified me, set me apart for His service.
  2. Trust the Lord to guide my paths.
  3. Trust the Lord to teach me and for me to learn contentment through the difficulties that I am going through.
  4. Give my self to the Lord for service and worship today.

Memory verses for the week:                      Exodus 20:4-7

  1. You shall not make for yourself an idol, or anything likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth.
  2. You shall not worship them or serve them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children on the third and forth generations of those who hate me,
  3. by showing lovingkindness to thousands, who love me and keep my commandments.
  4. You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not leave him unpunished who takes His name in vain.
