My Worship Time Focus: Sharing God’s blessings
Bible Reading &
Meditation Reference: Leviticus 9:22-23a
Message of the verses: “22
Then Aaron lifted up his hands toward the people and blessed them, and
he stepped down after making the sin offering and the burnt offering and the
peace offerings.
23 ¶ Moses and Aaron went into the tent of
meeting. When they came out and blessed the people.
Dr. Wiersbe
points out in his book that Aaron who was the high priest gave two blessings to
the people; the first one he gave alone after offering the sacrifices on the
last day of his ordination ceremony, and the second one he gave with
Moses. There is a blessing recorded in
Numbers 6:23-26 that could have been the blessing that Aaron gave to the
people: “23 "Speak to Aaron and to his sons, saying,
‘Thus you shall bless the sons of Israel . You shall say to them: 24 The
LORD bless you, and keep you; 25 The
LORD make His face shine on you, And be gracious to you;
26 The LORD lift up
His countenance on you, And give you peace.’”
NT
believers have the blessings of God because of the finished work of Jesus
Christ on the cross and Paul writes about this as he begins his letter to the
Ephesian church: “ Praised be the God
and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ for giving us
through Christ every spiritual benefit as citizens of
Heaven. 4 For consider what he has done—before the
foundation of the world he chose us to be, in Christ, his children, holy and
blameless in his sight. 5 He planned, in his love, that we should be
adopted as his own children through Jesus Christ—this was his will and pleasure
6 that we might
praise that glorious generosity of his which he granted to us in his Beloved. 7 It
is through him, at the cost of his own blood, that we are redeemed, freely
forgiven through that free and generous grace 8
which has overflowed into our lives and given us wisdom and
insight.8 which He lavished on us.” (J. B. Philips)
“The second
blessing that was shared with the people followed the time Moses and Aaron had
in the tabernacle, and this reminds us that we must be in fellowship with God
and on another if we’re to be a blessing to others.”
Spiritual meaning for my life today: The
Philips version of the Bible helped to make the passage in Ephesians 1:3-8 come
alive to me as I read it several times this morning. It was indeed a blessing to me, for it
reminded me of the cost of the blessings that God has given to me through Jesus
Christ and His death on the cross, of which His resurrection from the dead
followed. I am so thankful for this
wonderful blessing.
My Steps of Faith for
Today:
- Believe the blessings that are recorded in Ephesians 1:3-8.
- Trust the Lord to guide my path today.
- Give myself to the Lord for service and worship.
- Put on my spiritual armor.
- Trust the Lord to teach me, and that I may learn contentment.
Memory verses for the week: Exodus
20:4-7
- You shall not make for yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth.
- You shall not worship them or serve them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children on the third and forth generation of those who hate me,
- but showing lovingkindness to thousands, to those who love me and keep my commandments.
- You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not leave him unpunished who takes His name in vain.
